~Play Dough~
For the materials in this activity the children will be using: play dough of different colors, cookie cutters, and a backup plastic knife.
In this lesson the children will be learning how to smell, the difference between big and small, and how to use rolling pins. They will also be learning numbers, colors as well as the difference between soft and hard. (Curriculum Content)
At the start of the lesson the children will listen to a story about a day at the zoo called "My Day At The Zoo." (Opening Statement)
At the start of the lesson the children may count how many cookies that they have made with the play dough. (Strategy #1)
As the lesson continues the children may count their cookies and animals separately. (Strategy #2)
At the end of the lesson the children may count their cookies by grouping them by color or shape. (Strategy #3)

When the group time comes to a close the children may hear the five minutes more song before cleaning up. The teacher will place containers in the middle of the table for the children to place the materials in.
After the materials are put away the children will have a discussion about the play for example, they will discus how the play dough feels, and the scent and color of the play dough. They will also discuss the shape of the cookie cutter as well as their favorite part of the activity.
